Technology is the single most important factor in enabling the increasingly rapid growth in unmanned systems capability and utility. It is no surprise, therefore, that understanding and keeping abreast of unmanned systems related technologies is a core business for CCUVS.

CCUVS not only monitors the development of relevant technologies but is proactive in indicating where specific research and development would be helpful.

The test and evaluation of new technologies is essential in guiding their application to deliver business benefits. At present CCUVS is focussing on technology evaluation and does not possess in-house test facilities. However, members of the CCUVS Board of Directors are not only expert at testing but their parent organisations have their own T&E capabilities. In the short term, CCUVS will access such T&E capabilities through service agreements when required.

CCUVS works to identify technology solutions to meet client needs. CCUVS is resourced to conduct a range of activities in this area from conducting studies and making recommendations to project managing, typically with partners, R&D and prototype system solutions. CCUVS executives have experience of such projects with unmanned aircraft systems for remote sensing, with unmanned ground vehicles operating in hazardous conditions and with littoral unmanned maritime systems for mine clearance.
